The Iron Fairies is the brainchild of design maverick Ashley Sutton and seasoned hospitality expert Sandeep Sekhri, brought to life under the umbrella of Boutique Bars. Inspired by Sutton’s experiences of working in the iron ore mines of Western Australia, he dreamed up a wondrous world where deep under the ground, grumpy old miners work tirelessly to unearth iron ores to craft tiny fairies out of—hoping to bring them to life and into the sun. The tale is brought into the real world in our establishments. Rusted iron, aged timber, patinated leather, and velvet furnishings are bathed in warm lighting, resembling an ironsmith workshop from a different reality. Rather than conventional luxury, the design reflects a dedication to craft and an intricate form of beauty. Peppered throughout the space are 10,000 fairies, suspended from above or hiding in its nooks and crannies, along with other curiosities sealed in glass bottles. What we set out to build is not merely a bar, but a conceptual space that immerses its patrons in theatrical whimsy. The Iron Fairies is for the dreamer in all of us.
